Help Our Warrior Cam Fight His Way Back to Health

On the 5th of April, our beloved Cam a brother, son, friend, and true warrior set out to run the Two Oceans Ultra Marathon. This wasn’t his first race. He had trained hard, was feeling strong, and was doing incredibly well on the day. But just 1km before the finish line, everything changed.

It was an extremely hot day, and Cam suffered severe heatstroke. His body temperature rose dangerously high over 40°C and stayed that way for a prolonged period. This led to multiple seizures and, ultimately, both his kidneys and liver began to fail. He was placed on a ventilator and given just a 10% chance of survival.

As if that wasn't enough, his body began to shut down further. The trauma caused widespread complications and infection, and a part of his brain was damaged.

But Cam being the fighter we know and love  held on. After 37 excruciating days, he’s still with us. He spent over a month in ICU and is now in a step-down facility, where he’s learning to walk again and slowly regaining his strength.
