Meet the Coetzee family: Warren, his wife Isabel, and their son Tyler. Like so many South African families, they've built their lives on hard work, resilience, and love for one another. But since January 2026, that life has been turned upside down by a medical crisis no family should have to face alone.

Warren has lived with type 1 diabetes since the age of six. For over four decades, he has faced this condition with quiet strength and determination, never once letting it define him. But in 2025, at just 48 years old, his kidneys began to fail — the start of a battle that would soon become a fight for his life.

In January 2026, Warren was rushed into ICU with a ruptured appendix, which amongst other things triggered total kidney failure. Since then, he has been in and out of hospital for more than 75 days to date, battling ongoing lung complications while undergoing dialysis for up to four hours a day, three days a week, just to stay alive.
