Help Willem Fight a Life-Threatening Infection
What started as recurring sinus infections has turned into a devastating and frightening medical journey for my husband and me.
For approximately two months, Willem was in and out of General Practitioners’ consulting rooms with recurring sinus infections. Each visit cost around R500, including consultations and medication.
When the infections continued and he began experiencing episodes of significant swelling around his eye, he was referred to an Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) specialist. The ENT discovered multiple polyps in his sinuses, causing severe blockages and allowing the infection to become increasingly serious.
Despite several specialist consultations, medication and cortisone, his condition continued to deteriorate. Each specialist visit cost approximately R700.
On 22 July 2026, his ENT specialist booked him into Mediclinic Worcester for further investigation. He underwent several CT scans, with the first costing approximately R2,100 out of pocket. The scans revea...
