Helping Donnel Access the Care He Deserves

Donnel is a vibrant 18-year-old young man who has spent his entire life fighting battles most of us can’t imagine. Born with Hydrocephalus (water on the brain), Donnel’s journey has been one of immense courage, marked by constant hospital visits and six major surgeries to date.

Life has not been easy for Donnel. Due to complications from spine damage, he is unable to walk and is fully dependent on his mother for his daily needs. He also survived a mild stroke that affected the use of his hand, and he struggles with chronic skin allergies that require constant management.

Since the age of four, Donnel’s life has been shaped by a profound loss - his father passed away from cancer. Since then, his mother has been his sole caregiver, protector, and champion. For 14 years, she has carried the responsibility of his care alone.

Donnel recently completed his time at a disability school and is now home full-time. Because Donnel has grown into a young man, the physical toll of lifting and moving him has left his mother with severe, chronic backache. Every trip to the hospi...
