We are reaching out with hope in our hearts to ask for support for Johan van Zyl, a kind, hardworking, and courageous man who is bravely fighting advanced colon cancer.
I know Johan through his wife, who is a colleague of mine, and I can honestly say they are the kind of people who are always there for others. They give selflessly, help wherever they can, and never ask for anything in return. If there was ever a family deserving of support during a difficult time, it is theirs.
Johan was first diagnosed with colon cancer in 2023. He immediately underwent surgery followed by chemotherapy, and for a while the treatment seemed successful. Sadly, only six months later, a routine check-up revealed heartbreaking news — the cancer had spread to his lungs and liver.
In 2024, Johan underwent another operation and additional chemotherapy in an attempt to remove the liver tumors. Despite everyone’s best efforts, the treatment was unsuccessful. His oncologist has now recommended Lonsurf therapy, a treatment that offers Johan a real chance to extend — and potentially save — h...
