Hope for Ajies: A Medical Journey

Hi, my name is Malina, and I’m reaching out on behalf of my family. Over the last four months, my mom, brother, sister, and I have collectively witnessed the physical deterioration of the strongest man we know.

Our journey began on July 19, 2024, when my father underwent spinal surgery. We were anxious, but we clung to hope that this surgery would be the start of his recovery. Hours passed in the hospital, filled with nervous laughter and tears, as we waited for news. When it was over, we were relieved to see him cracking jokes from his hospital bed, reassuring us in the way only he could.

But that relief was short-lived.

His condition began to worsen. Tests after tests. Confusing results. “We’ve never seen this before,” doctors said. Our questions multiplied, but answers remained elusive. Then finally, an answer came:

Limb-girdle muscular dystrophy.
