National Women's Month is here, and while we honour the spirit of South African women, we must also confront an uncomfortable truth. At the I_Menstruate Movement, we are fighting to end period poverty - a silent crisis that is stealing the futures of our girls. And we refuse to let this injustice continue.
Our research reveals a heartbreaking reality: 83% of girl learners we surveyed do not have regular access to menstrual products, either at school or at home. This forces them to miss school during their periods, disrupting their education and threatening their future. This is not just a statistic; it is a crisis that demands our immediate action.
This National Women's Month, we are calling on you to join us in breaking the silence and stigma surrounding this issue. It is time to challenge the system that has failed our girls for too long.
