Independent Youth Press (IYP) is a student-powered, editor-verified local journalism initiative. We partner directly with schools to develop responsible student voices through a structured educational programme.
Our mission is to bridge the gap between young people’s daily realities and trusted news sources by providing a safe, professional platform for their stories.
What We Do
We train learners to report on local community stories under professional supervision. Unlike unmoderated digital spaces, IYP operates like a school press club held to professional journalistic standards.
Skill Development: Learners gain basic journalism skills, including interviewing and pitch development.
Mentorship: Students write short reports and receive direct feedback from professional editors.
Verified Portfolios: Participants graduate from the program with a verified portfolio of published work.
