Into the Deep Children's Anthology

Help us place South African stories into the hands of children who need them most.

Every child deserves the opportunity to open a book and discover a world beyond their own, a world filled with adventure, possibility and hope.

Yet for far too many children across South Africa, owning a book or having regular access to age-appropriate stories remains out of reach. Our country is facing a serious literacy crisis, and we believe that helping children fall in love with stories is one small but meaningful way to begin changing that.

The South African Indie Authors Association and The Local Book Hive are creating Into the Deep, a children’s anthology for readers aged nine to thirteen. Inspired by the wonder and mystery of the ocean, the anthology will invite children to dive beneath the waves, encounter extraordinary creatures, explore magical underwater worlds and discover adventures created by South African imaginations.
