James’s Healing Journey

On the 25th of December, Aunty Nicky received every mother’s worst nightmare of a phone call, James had been in involved in a vehicle accident. The ambulance established a broken right leg on scene. James does not have medical aid, but thankfully the choice to go to a private hospital was made as the physicians were able to assist as he arrived and picked up on the severity of James’ condition immediately. The trauma physician noted bruising on James’ abdomen after assessing him in the emergency unit and a full-body trauma panel CT was ordered thankfully. The CT confirmed the trauma physician’s suspicions, James had a ruptured bladder, broken tibia and fibular in his right leg (clean break on the one bone and shattered on the other) and a bad break in his second metatarsal on the left foot. Due to James’ rapidly dropping blood pressure, he went into emergency surgery on the eve of the 25th to repair the bladder.
