Jana Mari Filmalter

Our 14 year old daughter, Jana-Mari, was diagnosed with Pulmonary Hemangioma. This is an extremely rare growth which is situated below her right lung. The growth has veins which are directly linked to the lungs, aorta and also the spinal cord. These veins also have sub growths.  At this stage the growth is 14 cm in diameter. Its growth is non-cancerous. But unfortunately, because of its position and size, it is very problematic. It is pushing her right lung upwards and it is also decreasing the size of two of the hearts chambers. It is also pushing against her right lung’s air tube and therefore decreasing her oxygen supply. She experiences frequent bouts of nausea and headaches as well as pain underneath her right breast. She tires easily and is often short of breath.
