HELP JOHAN KEEP FIGHTING
Dear friends,
If you know Johan Grimbeek, you know three things: He has wine stains on his hands, a dog at his feet and he is a proud Springbok supporter.
Johan is a winemaker at Kanu Wines in Stellenbosch, Western Cape, South Africa. But he is so much more than that. He’s the guy who’d rather be outdoors than anywhere else – rod in hand along Struisbaai’s shore.
He started his journey in wine back in 1998 at Chamonix Wine Estate, Franschhoek, worked his way through Mulderbosch Vinyards, Stellenbosch, and even spent time in France learning the craft.
In 2020 his Chenin Blanc Reserve was named Best in the World at the International Wine and Spiritual Competition. That was Johan - quiet, humble but brilliant at what he did.
Today Johan is fighting brain cancer. The tumour has spread and he and his wife Michelle have tried everything to get him the best care. The reality is that the ongoing medical costs are extremely high.
