In 2008, having a few beers after a Loftus rugby game, we (two high school friends, Michiel and Emile), reflected on the careers we were starting. We realised our success wasn’t just due to hard work, but because of the doors opened by our education: a foundation our parents could afford, but many others couldn't. So, we made a choice. We rallied together some of our high school friends to support a kid through high school - and that's why Geleentheid Trust exists today.

What started as a small circle of friends has grown into a movement now supporting 16 learners across Stellenbosch, Paarl, and Kuils River. But, the need is far greater than our current capacity. Each year, we receive hundreds of applications (in 2026 we had nearly 300!) from top-performing kids who are financially unable to acces...
