Journey of Hope – Walking 4,500km to Change Lives

My name is Marius Swanepoel, and I am walking 4,500km along the coastline of South Africa — from Shelly Beach to Sodwana, back down the coast to Cape Town, and onward to Alexander Bay.

I am doing this walk alone, to shine a light on two urgent needs in our country:

1. Helping Children Enter Grade R

Thousands of South African children cannot start Grade R simply because families cannot afford:

School fees

Transport

Stationery

School uniforms

Grade R is the foundation of a child’s education. Missing it places them at a lifelong disadvantage.

2. Building a Shelter for Single Mothers & Their Children

My bigger vision is to establish a safe, fully compliant DSD-registered shelter that will provide:
