CHAPMAN'S PEAK EVERESTING CHALLENGE

In July 2025, I will embark on a Chappies Everesting Challenge. The aim is to reach the height of Everest (8 849m) in my backyard, by ascending (and descending) Chappies 14 times. 

Project Noordhoeked is a community-funded greening, job creation project. We employ a team of guys who 1) collect rubbish/dog poo off Noordhoek beach 2) build boardwalks/maintain trails/memorial benches out of ecobricks 3) landscape the gardens around the benches down at Noordhoek beach 4) maintain Kakapo the wire whale (for ocean plastic collected by beach walkers), 5) clear invasive alien plants (mainly Port Jackson & Rooikrans) from the wetland and mountainsides, 6) keep Noordhoeke’s main roads free of trash with regular cleanups 7) manage an ever-expanding compost centre, where we compost quite a lot of the wet waste produced at a few of our eateries/coffee shops. 

With this latest trail running challenge, I intend raising funds to ensure the continuity of our project, and in focusing attention on clearing the ever-growing Rooikrans...
