Keep her in school! The Segway challenge.

Sikholelwe is a strong and motivated young girl with paraplegia who dreams of becoming a doctor. Thanks to her dedicated parents and teachers and against all odds, she is passing well in a mainstream but very rural school. Next year she goes to highschool. 

The problem is that the area consists of thick beach sand, has no bush taxis travelling near their house, and both the primary and high schools are 3km walk away-albeit in opposite directions- along sandy jeep tracks or winding foot paths. 

Sikholelwe's mom carries her to school and back daily. But she is getting older and sikholelwe is getting heavier!

Without  a transport solution soon, sikholelwe runs the risk of dropping out of school. 

Her current rural three wheeler wheelchair negotiates short bits of sand grudgingly, and cannot even be dragged backwards for 3km (it is easier to piggy back her). The current 'motorized' power chairs do not even cope with a little bit of sand. The family is too poor to maintain any donated quadbike or vehicle and live 35km from the closest mechani...
