Keep Me Housed This Semester

I am a second-year Master’s student in Philosophy at Stellenbosch University. A sudden change in my housing situation has placed me in financial uncertainty, and I am seeking support to stay housed while completing my degree.

My housemate, with whom I have been sharing rent, is a PhD candidate at the same university and is relocating to another province for fieldwork. As a result, I will now be solely responsible for the full rent, which we previously split equally. Given that Cape Town is one of the most expensive cities in South Africa, my scholarship alone is not sufficient to cover tuition, rent, and basic living expenses.

Last year, I supplemented my income by tutoring, which helped me manage my share of the rent. However, I experienced a serious health issue that required time to recover, during which I was unable to continue tutoring or make progress on my research.
