Meet Kim Steyn, a determined and resilient woman who has battled a rare eye condition called Keratoconus since birth.

 At just 9 years old, Kim underwent her first cornea grafts in both eyes, only to face devastating rejection of the transplants. 

At the age of 18, she had to endure another round of surgeries, but despite these efforts, Kim is now clinically blind. She can only see shadows, and manages to be independant despite her lack of sight.

Nearly 29 years later, Kim has received the heartbreaking news that her corneas are rejecting once again, meaning complete blindness is inevitable. 

Although there's no exact timeline for when this will happen, her vision has deteriorated significantly since her last check-up. 

But blindness won't stop Kim….. A qualified and highly respected sports therapist based in Hillcrest, she is determined to continue her work, helping others, even as her world becomes more difficult to navigate. To maintain her independence, Kim now urgently needs a guide dog.
