About This Campaign

LEAPS, established in 2008, is a non-profit animal welfare organisation that operates in some of the most underserved, indigent areas of Elands Bay, Lamberts Bay and Vredenburg, approximately 220 km from Cape Town up the West Coast of South Africa. We are a registered NPO & PBO organisation.
LEAPS conducts daily outreach, delivering large-scale sterilisation and direct welfare support to hundreds of animals annually. Our primary goals are to reduce animal suffering, support the local impoverished communities, and conduct mass spay/neuter campaigns in an effort to prevent zoonotic diseases like Rabies, worms, Sarcoptic Mange (Scabies), Cat-Scratch Disease (Bartonellosis) and many others.
Our mobile animal welfare service provides emergency rescue and response, food, shelter, medical support, transportation of animals to veterinary care and placement of vulnerable animals into foster homes. This requires that we drive back and forth weekly from Cape Town to these areas -- over 250 km per week.
Our current vehicle has exceeded 325,000 km...
