Leg amputation

This is my dad, Johnny van Wyk, who is 83 years old. He's a diabetic, and he had a below-knee amputation about two months ago at a state hospital after developing gangrene. Since then, he's been bedridden, and my mom, who is also 83, has been doing her best to care for him at home with our support.

Sadly, his condition has worsened. The wound got infected, and the infection started spreading through his body. His sugar levels shot up to over 20, and he became so weak and dehydrated that we had to rush him to the Emergency Department over the weekend.

The doctor told us that he was very sick and that if we don't act fast, we could lose him. They recommended an urgent above-knee amputation to stop the infection.

We've already paid over some funding to keep him admitted and stabilize him, but the hospital requires more funding to secure the theatre for an operation. He doesn't have a medical aid, and we've unfortunately ran out of funds.
