I was nine years old the first time a story changed my life. Three performers walked into our school playground and turned it into another world. The show asked a question I had never considered: what happens when our water runs out? I was on my feet, shouting answers. I needed to know how it ended.

It ended with hope. And I carried that hope home.

That same afternoon I stood on a chair in our kitchen and taught my family what I had learned. My sister still turns off the tap when he brushes his teeth. I even made a “Save Water” sign and stuck it to a public tap outside my house.

That is what these shows do. They don’t stay in the school hall. Their messages travel home with every child. In communities where so much is scarce, children become the messengers. What they learn, they teach.
