Let's help our friend, Luvuyo

We all know Luvuyo who washes our cars outside SAIAB/Languages/Jack's Bagels. He always greets us in the morning and wishes us a good day. Luvuyo lost his parents in a tragic house fire when he was young. His family history has been fraught with the aftermath, and nobody could ever afford to let him go to the bush. Not only does this require food and special clothing, but also a decent coming out celebration.

Luvuyo's day finally dawned on Saturday 30 May, and he is now undergoing the mandatory 10-day cleansing period. A week or two after this he will return from the bush as a man and start a new life.

There are two of us who are helping Luvuyo navigate this transformational period, and we have decided to try to raise as much money as we can. We will limit the share that goes to the celebration, and the rest will be given to Luvuyo. It will be wonderful if we can raise enough so that he can build a simple hut so that he won't have to pay rent and deal with unreasonable landlords in his new life as a man.
