My name is Claudene. I am the mom of a beautiful little boy named Schalkie. We recently relocated to Kempton Park, Gauteng.
Schalkie is a precious 2 year old who will be turning 3 in April 2025.
Schalk was diagnosed with Failure to Thrive end of September 2024 for a second time. He was admitted to hospital to determine the cause of his Failure to Thrive, as well as chronic diarrhea and vomiting. After a mountain load of bloodtests, x-rays, barium swallow, abdominal ultrasound and CT scans, his pediatrician referred him to a Pediatric Gastroenterologist.
The Pediatric Gastroenterologist did an endoscopy and colonoscopy and inserted a Naso Gastric Tube for a 24-Hour pH-impedance procedure. The pH-impedance procedure is a thin tube that goes through his nose down into his stomach and Schalkie was diagnosed with GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease) which means he has survere reflux.
