Fighting Burkitts

Our 23 year old son, Logan was a healthy, active young man. In October last year he began experiencing excruciating stomach cramps. After visits to doctors and misdiagnosises, he was diagnosed with a rare type of cancer, Burkitts Non Hodgkins lymphoma. We were devastated but our brave son, took on the fight. In December 2022 he contracted Covid. This is when the real fight began. He spent 40 days in ICU. He suffered from a collapsed lung, lactis acidosis and the cancer spread to his liver. He was on dialysis and the doctors were not confident that he'd see his 24th birthday. But against all odds he beat COVID and became stronger. He was in a rehabilitation facility to learn to walk.  In May we were hoping to celebrate his last chemo session when a tumor on his spine was discovered. The doctors confirmed it to be refractory Burkitts which means although it responded well to chemo initially, the cancer was back.  The costs for a much needed super drug amount to R90 000 and there's all the other costs that aren't funded.
