About This Campaign
The Long March to Freedom Sponsored School Program is an educational access initiative designed to provide fully funded heritage learning experiences for learners from under-resourced WCED schools across the Cape Town metropolitan area. The project will sponsor learners to visit the Long March to Freedom exhibition at Century City, a nationally significant outdoor procession of life-size bronze figures representing over 350 years of South Africa’s liberation history.
The programme removes the financial barriers that prevent many schools—especially Quintile 1–3—from accessing structured cultural education. Each sponsored learner will receive a guided, curriculum-aligned tour of the exhibition, a learning pack with worksheets and stationary, refreshments, and safe transport to and from the site. Tours are facilitated by trained Educational Officers and Guides, ensuring an engaging learning experience that supports CAPS themes for Grades 4–12.
