Lorenzo 12th World Down Syndrome Championship

Hi, my name is Lorenzo. I am a proud athlete with Down Syndrome and a passionate competitive swimmer.

After more than 10 years of dedication to swimming, I’ve qualified to compete at the 12th World Down Syndrome Swimming Championships, taking place in Albufeira, Portugal, from 30 October to 7 November 2026.

My journey began at Casa do Sol School for Special Education, where I first discovered my love for swimming. About six years ago, I joined the Mandeville Dolphins Swimming Club, where I train under the guidance of Lize-Mari and Dean Price.

I am incredibly grateful for my father, who has raised me as a single parent and has made many sacrifices to support me and help me achieve my dreams.

Over the past three years (2024, 2025, and 2026), I have proudly represented Gauteng at the SASA II/DS National Games, where I have earned:

• 🥇 3 Gold medals
• 🥈 10 Silver medals
• 🥉 7 Bronze medals
