Lourens’ story
Lourens is a dedicated young karateka with a clear long-term dream — to one day represent his country internationally and continue his journey toward becoming a qualified sensei.
In May 2026, he will compete at the National Championships. If he qualifies, he will earn the opportunity to represent South Africa at the JKA Karate IPC Championships in Mauritius in September 2026.
This is a rare and life-changing opportunity in his karate journey.
Lourens has already shown strong competitive ability, earning gold and silver medals at provincial level this year. He has also been awarded Provincial Colours in KwaZulu-Natal, Gauteng, and Limpopo, as well as National Colours (SA JKA recognition) — reflecting his consistency, discipline, and progression within the sport at a national level.
Despite these achievements, his journey has not been easy.
