💚 Holding Onto Hope — For Danie and Our Little Business of Love

Hi everybody. Tanja here. As many of you know, my husband, Danie, who turns 60 in December, has been a Type 1 diabetic for more than 50 years. His journey has been one of hard work, courage, determination, and endurance — but now, after decades of living with this disease, his organs are beginning to fail him. Due to his inability to eat any solid food, his whole system is weakening rapidly.

We’ve been through many storms together in our 39 years of marriage. During the Covid pandemic, we lost everything — our home, our business, our car, even the ability to plan for tomorrow. But through it all, we never lost our will to keep going and so, started over again.

When Danie became a double amputee, we were blessed beyond measure by kind-hearted people, like you, who helped us raise funds for his prosthetic legs through BackaBuddy. That generosity gave him mobility, dignity, and hope.

Today, I find myself once again fighting to keep that hope alive.
