About This Campaign
During our paediatrics block at Charlotte Maxeke, we were deeply touched by the story of Marang House. This remarkable home cares for children living with chronic illnesses, most of whom are renal patients requiring dialysis three times a week. Marang House ensures these children are safely transported to and from dialysis every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, while also overseeing their medications and schooling.
Founded in 1998 by the late Dr. Pieter Erst, Marang House provides seriously ill children with a stable, non-institutional home environment—offering 24-hour medical care, nutritious meals, and an abundance of love. Many children in South Africa face life-threatening illnesses without the safe home environment necessary for recovery. Marang House fills this gap, giving them not just medical care, but hope. In Setswana, Marang means “rays of the sun,” and for these children, it truly symbolizes hope.
By supporting Marang House, you help provide these children with the care, love, and essentials they need to thrive.
