Martie Steyn and Melanoma

 

We as a family are reaching out to you with heavy hearts and plea for help. Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Martie Steyn, at the tender age of 80, is battling a foe -melanoma. What began as a scheduled ear operation has spiralled into an agonising journey of five surgeries, including the need for a complex nose reconstruction using the forehead flap. 

 

The diagnosis was already distressing, but during the pre - operation inspection, the physician discovered a melanoma on the nose flap. This discovery has forced us down a path filled with uncertainty, pain and mounting medical bills. 

 

To date, Martie Steyn has shown incredible strength and resilience as she has already undergone three of the five surgeries. The total cost of these procedures has reached an overwhelming amount of R235 485. 24
