Melena Root Canal Operation

Melena is not just a lion — he’s family here at Ubuntu Wildlife Sanctuary in South Africa. Our sanctuary is a forever home for rescued and rehabilitated wildlife, giving animals a second chance at a safe, dignified life. Many, like Melena, have come from tragic backgrounds, and here they find the love, care, and respect they deserve.

But right now, Melena is in trouble. He is in constant agony from a severe tooth infection that requires an urgent root canal. The pain is so intense that he struggles to eat, and every day he grows weaker, losing weight at a dangerous rate. Watching him suffer is heartbreaking, and without this surgery, his future is uncertain.

At Ubuntu, we are committed to providing the highest standard of care for all our animals, but specialized veterinary procedures like this are extremely costly. This operation will remove Melena’s pain, help him eat again, and restore his strength — but we cannot do it without your support.
