Community appeal launched to support caregiverAfter receiving conflicting diagnoses for an autoimmune disorder, Miem van Vuuren hopes to consult a private doctor but requires financial support from the community. Miem van Vuuren, a beloved caregiver from Vleikop who has dedicated her life to looking after others, is now fighting her own battle with an autoimmune disorder.
She explained that on July 9, she underwent tests, and a week later was told she had an autoimmune condition. At first, she was diagnosed with Lupus and treated with two drips and an injection, which gave her some relief. Soon afterwards, however, doctors informed her that she, in fact, has Rheumatoid arthritis and placed her on medication for pain and gout. Sadly, she says the medication has brought little to no relief, and she continues to suffer.
