Go Mom Studies

Good day, my name is Kayla. My Mother, Monja, has been working as a Grade RR Teacher for 4 years. At the beginning of this year (2023), she has been promoted to being a Senior Phase teacher. But in order for her to keep this position of employment in the long run, she has to complete a teaching degree. I am proud to say that at the age of 48, my mother has registered to complete her PGCE Senior phase and FET as a part time student for the next 2 years. This is no mean feat with having to work full time and being a single mother. Unfortunately, as we all know, studying is very expensive. The result is that my mother has to dig very very deep just to be able to provide the very basic and absolute necessities - at times making due without, in order to cover unexpected medical expenses. Due to her working every Saturday and having to study after hours, she is unable to get a means to generate an extra income.
