About This Campaign
The MOUSE-FREE MARION PROJECT
It's my 50th birthday in February this year! Instead of getting anything for myself, I'd like to raise funds for a good cause, a cause which is now close to my heart - The MOUSE-FREE MARION PROJECT. My son and I recently had the amazing opportunity to see the Island's birds in person.
Please help me to raise funds to save Marion Island's seabirds from an infestation of house mice!
Marion Island is owned by South Africa, and lies about half way between Cape Town and the Antarctic. Mice were accidentally introduced to Marion Island, most probably by sealers a century ago. These mice have taken over the island, and are now eating the Island's ground-nesting birds alive! (as well as causing other damage to the island's insects and plants etc). Drastic measures need to be taken, in order to eradicate these mice from this pristine Island, where amongst many other sea birds, the majestic Wandering Albatross breeds (about a quarter of the world's Wandering Albatrosses, I believe).
