Muscle & Bone Literary: a bookstore startup

Hello, friend! My name is Thando Nkosi. I’m an author, a student, and the founder of Muscle & Bone Literary, an independent online bookstore created to make quality literature accessible and to encourage a genuine love of reading through thoughtful curation and personal recommendations.

Muscle & Bone Literary builds on the foundation of the Muscle & Bone blog, which I have been writing and publishing for the past three years. Literature has been central to my life; it has shaped my capacity for empathy, care, and sustained engagement with people, ideas, and causes that require both intellectual rigour and compassion. 

I believe South Africa has a silent but vibrant and deeply committed community of readers and writers who are too often denied access to high-quality literary work, particularly at an affordable price. Education, especially in the form of media literacy, should be as accessible as possible, so that people can engage critically with the world and liberate themselves through knowledge and understanding. <...
