Hi Everyone
My name is Shanay. I'm a young, hardworking woman from Johannesburg, and I've been diagnosed with TRIPLE NEGATIVE GRADE 3 BREAST CANCER.
This diagnosis has completely changed my life. I don't have a medical aid or dreaded disease cover, and the emotional and financial burden is incredibly heavy.
I've always been a calm, patient, loving and a creative person - especially when it comes to caring for others. I currently work half day, but now I'm facing the biggest challenge of my life: fighting for my health and future.
I received chemotherapy through government care. I am deeply grateful that I was able to get the help. I am awaiting surgery, and after surgery I will need radiation but don’t know where I will have that done because of the long wait in government.
Because of the long waiting lists in the government system, I am being forced to have my surgery privately, which comes at a cost I simply cannot afford on my own. On top of this, I will need to travel to another province for radiation after surgery, which adds f...
