My name is Katlego Ngoato and I am both an assistant lecturer in the Department of Information Science at the University of Pretoria (UP) and a Bachelor of Information Science (BIS) Honours student.
My dad bought me my first bicycle when I was in Grade R. After struggling to get the hang of it, I somehow got on the next morning and started riding. I like to think that was when I was called to the sport!
After a long break, I returned to cycling in February 2026 and joined the Tuks Cycling Team. Since then, I have covered more than 1 000 km, including a challenging but rewarding 150 km ride from Pretoria to Hartbeespoort and back.
On Sunday 22 November 2026, Ride Joburg will be my first cycling race. I will take on the 97 km route as a #Ride4UPDegrees Fundraising Champion because I wanted this milestone to have a purpose beyond my own achieve...
