About This Campaign
From Patchy Rugby Fields to Golden Dreams
For 12 years, Lincoln Mali has been quietly building something special in the Eastern Cape.
By day, he is a senior executive. But his real life’s work has been on dusty, uneven rugby fields, where young boys lace up worn boots, some without proper kit, playing for something bigger than the game itself.
In communities where opportunity is scarce, rugby becomes more than a sport. It becomes hope.
Lincoln started the Mzwandile Mali Schools Rugby Tournament in honour of his late father, who believed deeply that sport could change the trajectory of a young person’s life. What began as a small initiative has grown into a powerful movement of coaches, organisers, and communities working together to keep school rugby alive where the system has largely stepped away.
Once a year, these schools come together for a tournament. And for a few weeks, everything changes. There is structure, competition, pride.
Then it ends.
For the rest of the year, there is no league. No fix...
