In February 2024, I took Nibbles home. He was a few days old, barely any feathers. Nibbles was hand-reared.
Today, Nibbles is a beautiful lutino Cockatiel and needs your help.
17 August 2025 Nibbles started showing early symptoms of some kind of illness. He struggled to say awake, he wasn't eating as much.
We rushed him to our local Vet, who informed us that she doesn't specialise as an avian vet but she would see what she could do.
After a few hours I was informed that they would not be able to help Nibbles. They gave him some fluids to buy us some time to find him another vet.
We phoned a dozen vets and finally found one 2 hours away. They said they would be able to help Nibbles on 19 August 2025 at 8h30.
We rushed him there that morning. The vet said to leave him there overnight so that they could cropdose him as he had stopped eating. We were quoted R1000.00 excluding the services provided, an X-ray and a consultation that already took place.
