Nicole Runs for Rainbows

In the wake of Harry's diagnosis with Leukemia (A.L.L.) in 2021, my eyes were opened to the harsh reality of childhood cancer. Though I had been aware of its existence, it took Harry's battle to truly understand the depth of its impact on young lives. Alongside my brother-in-law, Fergus, I ran Comrades last year, dedicating each stride to Rainbows and Smiles in support of Harry's journey. Sadly, in August 2023, Harry passed away, leaving a void that can never be filled.

Yet, amidst the pain and sorrow, Harry's spirit continues to shine brightly, illuminating the path of hope for all who knew him. He has become a beacon of inspiration, breathing new life into the word "HOPE." His resilience, his courage, his unwavering spirit—they remind us that hope is more than just a word; it's a guiding light, a promise of better days ahead.

As I lace up my shoes once more for this year's Comrades, Harry remains at the forefront of my mind and heart. I run for him, for the countless children like him who fight bravely against the odds. And I run for Rainbows and Smiles, an organizat...
