About This Campaign
Founded in 1981, Neighbourhood Old Age Homes was created in response to the exclusion of older people living in poverty. At a time when care meant institutionalisation and was inaccessible to many, NOAH built a different model, rooted in community, dignity and independence.
Today, more than 1,000 older people across greater Cape Town are supported each year through NOAH’s integrated programmes.
For 110 residents, 11 communal homes provide safe, affordable housing where elders live together in self-managed households that promote mutual support and reduce isolation.
More than 600 elders access affordable primary healthcare through NOAH’s clinics in Khayelitsha, Woodstock and Athlone, ensuring consistent care, medication support and monitoring that help sustain independence.
Day care and outreach programmes foster connection, routine and emotional wellbeing. Social enterprises create opportunities for elders to re-engage their skills and strengthen financial resilience.
