In December 2022 Oliver participated in a National Canoe Polo Training Camp which took place at the Peninsula Canoe Club in Cape Town. He is delighted to have been selected as part of the team that will travel to Belfast, Northern Ireland in July to represent South Africa at the Junior World Champs.
It's an incredible opportunity for Oliver and his team mates to compete at an international tournament, however, as with most amateur minority sports, no funding is made available from the sports federation or government to assist athletes. They will need to raise their own funds for flights, visas, accommodation and professional level equipment.
Fund raising has begun and the team members are working hard with finding sponsorship, paddle-a-thons, raffles, food sales and many more fantastic ideas. If you are able to help Oliver with a contribution, however small, it will be greatly appreciated! We are hoping to get all our team members to Belfast in July.
