I am fighting cancer for the second time in my life, but without help to keep our medical aid and access treatment, this fight may be one we cannot face alone…
At age 15 I was diagnosed with cancer and received chemotherapy. Five years ago I was again diagnosed with cancer. With help from above, support from my husband and family, treatment and determination, I began the long journey of fighting this disease. Until recently, my medical aid covered my treatments, allowing me to receive the care I needed and giving my family and me hope.
Last year our lives took another difficult turn when both my husband and I were retrenched from our jobs. Losing our income has made it increasingly difficult for us to keep up with our medical aid contributions, even though maintaining this cover is essential for both of us.
