Our beautiful daughter, Alyssa “Ally”, is just one year old - a bright, loving little girl whose laughter lights up every single room. She’s pure sunshine but behind her sweet smile, Ally is bravely fighting a rare, life-threatening disease.

Ally has been diagnosed with Hurler Syndrome (MPS1) - a cruel, progressive genetic disorder that prevents her body from breaking down certain sugars. These sugars build up in her cells, damaging her organs, bones, heart, and most heartbreakingly… her brain.

Right now, Ally receives weekly Enzyme Replacement Therapy (ERT) - the only thing keeping her stable long enough for a chance at survival.

This treatment costs R92,000 every single month, and our medical aid refuses to cover a cent.

Thanks to the kindness of family, friends, and strangers, we’ve managed to give her five months of treatment. We are endlessly grateful but ERT has a heartbreaking limitation: it cannot cross the blood–brain barrier.
