Support Panthera Africa After the Stanford Fire

The Panthera Africa Big Cat Sanctuary is appealing for urgent support after a devastating wildfire swept through its premises during the recent Stanford fire in the Western Cape.

The fire caused significant damage to the sanctuary and placed multiple rescued big cats in danger. While some animals sustained minor burns, others are in critical condition and are currently receiving urgent veterinary care.

This fire follows closely after the Pearly Beach fire and is the second major wildfire to impact the Gansbaai region in a matter of days, placing extraordinary strain on emergency services, local communities, and wildlife organisations.

Panthera Africa’s co-founder, Catherine Nyquist, has confirmed that the full extent of the damage is still being assessed, but the immediate need is clear:
