On Sunday 11 August 2024, Pieter van Niekerk was involved in a tragic freak accident.
After spending an enjoyable long weekend away with family and friends, trout fishing outside Machadodorp, Pieter met his tragedy enroute back home at the Alzu N4 Petroport.
Pieter stoped on the side of the slipway leading onto the freeway, he got out of his Hilux bakkie to get cold drinks from the back of the bakkie when a 30Ton truck lost control, crushing him between the tailgate of his bakkie and the truck, the truck dragged and twisted him for 50 metres before veering through the fence at Alzu petroport, crashing into several cars in the parking lott before coming to a stand still.
