My story

My name is Richard, a dedicated BSc in Computing student at the University of South Africa. From a young age, I have always been passionate about technology and problem-solving, and I worked tirelessly to achieve excellent academic results despite facing immense financial hardships. I was raised by a single mother who earns less than R1000 per month through the Community Work Programme (CWP). She has always done her best to support me and my six siblings, but affording university fees has been an uphill battle. I have always believed that education is my key to breaking the cycle of poverty, and I have never let my circumstances define my future. During my first year, I was fortunate enough to secure a bursary that covered my tuition. However, due to delays in the university’s system, the payment only reflected in February 2024, months after my transcript submission deadline for bursary renewal. As a result, I lost the funding I desperately relied on. Determined to find a solution, I applied for NSFAS, and my application status was marked as "Provincially Funded."...
