About This Campaign
Our goal is to sterilise 5 animals a week from impoverished households in Port Alfred, Eastern Cape, South Africa . This is the maximum our local SPCA can manage (with a vet volunteering once a week). We achieved this goal in 2024 for the first time with the help of so many amazing donors and volunteers. THANK YOU! We have made a difference!
The cost of one sterilisation is ZAR 400 which is a highly discounted rate thanks to the local SPCA and veterinary volunteers. But we also need funds for pet food, dewormers, tick and flea treatments and vaccines for animals on our waiting list to reduce the chance of complications and increase their welfare. BACKABUDDY pays all donations directly to the PADS account at the Port Alfred SPCA.
There are still so many litters of unwanted puppies in these communities, with no veterinary care or proper nutrition. The large majority of puppies die a horrible, lengthy painful death from parvo, malnutrition or biliary, a tick-borne disease.
