In 2018, in the heart of Khayelitsha, a bold idea was born: a school where young African girls could greet the world with confidence and possibility. That idea became Molo Mhlaba Schools meaning ‘hello world’.

For eight years, we have grown from a small, courageous beginning into a thriving STEAM, Montessori-inspired, Pan-African girls’ primary school. Our classrooms are filled with girls building robots, coding animations, reading African literature, solving maths problems, and discovering who they are. They learn in spaces that affirm their identity, nurture their curiosity, and remind them that their voices matter.

But we are still renting. Still moving. Still building a powerful vision inside borrowed walls.

Today, we are raising R13 000 000 to buy a permanent building with nine classrooms. We want this to be a true home we can move into on 18 January 2028 to celebrate our 10th birthday.

This campaign launches on 8 March 2026 on International Women’s Day and closes on 11 October 2027, International Day of the Girl Child.
