When my baby was born prematurely at 28 weeks gestation, weighing in at 1,08kg, I was thrusted into a world I knew very little about. I went in search online for a support group, specifically South African based, and at that time could not find any. I knew that if I was searching for support and answers to my questions, there had to be other parents who were doing the same too. And so Preemie Connect was formed.
What started out as 1 online support group for parents affected by prematurity has now grown into 5 different online support groups i.e.
1. Preemie Parents Support Group - For families affected by prematurity.
2. Differently-Abled Support Group - For families who have children with special needs.
3. Angel Babies Support Group - For families who have experience infant and baby loss.
4. Standard Mom Support Group - Because we all need a village
5. Preemie Dad's support group - For our Preemie Dads, Run by a Preemie Dad
